The White Space

The White Space is my free composition that i wrote for my h2 music a-levels. it explores the concepts of space in terms of dimensions, with the music depicting the concepts of 4d, 3d and 3.5d (a mix between 4d and 3d) space.

the piece is split into three sections:

i. in 4d

ii. in 3d

iii. in 3.5d

4d space is depicted with a sense of timelessness and the mixture between  electronic and acoustic sounds, whereas 3d space is depicted with vivid  rhythmic interactions on a single grand piano. additionally, many extended techniques are used on the strings of the grand piano, as  inspired by the music of henry cowell (1897 - 1965).
