interchange (noun):
a station where passengers may change from one railway line, bus service, etc. to another.
a road junction designed on several levels so that traffic streams do not intersect
an exchange, especially of ideas or information, between different people or groups
interchange explores a continuously evolving soundscape of sounds, beeps, drones and musical activity, undergoing a constant interchange between two keyboardists. Constructed from only 16 samples (all derived from the same sample of a Singapore MRT train beeping as its doors closes), the soundscape undergoes constant changes of displacements and distortion. These beeps and drones are everpresent, yet clouded and crunched up through an ever-accelerating and decelerating noise of interchanging effects.
Even when the slightest semblance of stability or clarity comes about, like any urban landscape, the music refuses to stop moving, to stop changing…
Do… we ever stop? Or are we always at our own interchanges, in perpetual motion, always on our way to… Where are we even going?
